Liquid Destruction

The problem

Professionals in the food and beverage industry can face difficulties in disposing of off-spec materials. Wastewater treatment plants are not designed to handle massive loading that can result from receiving large volumes of this type of material that can contain a high concentration of sugar and other ingredients. Beneficial reuse of beer, wine, soda, sports drinks and other liquids with a high Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) can be a problem.

THE SOLUTION

Depending on the material, the ‘highest and best use’ may be waste to energy by sending that material to anaerobic digestion, where sugars can be converted into renewable natural gas (RNG). Some liquids have no potential to produce biogas, and can be used to provide moisture to sustain the composting process. NCOR treats each waste-stream separately, and determines what the best use is for the material before depackaging and processing.
